Hey! My name is Garrett Goshorn and I will be the head varsity coach for Arlington Lacrosse. I am originally from Stanwood Washington, but more specifically I grew up on Camano Island. I played at and then graduated from Stanwood HS in 2014, and went on to play lacrosse and graduate from Western Washington University June 2018. I majored in Kinesiology, with a specialization in pre-physical therapy. I also received a minor in psychology.
I played defense from my first year (8th grade) up until freshman year at Western where I played long stick middie, then the next 2 years I played short stick defender, and by senior year I was a true midfielder, earning 1st team all PNCLL conference honors. I was a captain at Stanwood my junior and senior years, and my senior year at Western. In the last 4 years I have been apart of 2 nationally contending teams. With Western, we placed 4th in the nation my freshman year. Last year for indoor lacrosse, my team, the Portland River Monsters placed 3rd in the nation. After placing 3rd, I advocated for an expansion team to form in Washington. The previous year only had Oregon teams, but for this 2018 season the league took one of the Oregon teams, and gave me the reigns to decide name, logo, jerseys, general manage, coach, and play for the Tacoma Express! I am absolutely ecstatic to be apart of 2 inaugural programs and feel very honored to be in the positions that I have been entrusted with.
I’m very much so looking forward to coaching your boys into young men, and to honor and grow the game of lacrosse. I cannot wait to see what Arlington lacrosse has to offer after watching the growth and struggles of my first team at Stanwood. I feel like I will help make this team a force to be reckoned with, while also cultivating a culture of love and respect for the game, and for others, starting with the varsity team, but by also helping steer the direction of the youth programs. If you want to get ahold of me, my email is email@example.com. Looking forward to this season, and beyond. #GoEags!
